Jump Impact update October 2024

Linear to circular business

Throughout 2024, we’ve been busy learning as much as possible about sustainable business practises so we can transition Jump from a linear to a circular company that puts planet, people and profit on an equal footing. Changing our business model is a major undertaking that will take time and we’re learning as much as we can to ensure we do this correctly.

Sustainability learning

Kate has just successfully completed the 8-week online University of Cambridge Business Sustainability Management Course, run by the well-respected Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL). Education in this area is a lifelong process but we’re now working on identifying the most important ESG issues relating to Jump, incorporating public relations, marketing and the industries we work in; setting evidenced based SMART goals; implementing policy; measuring and reporting. We’ll continue to blog about this journey as we go along.

Jump Eight

As part of our ‘Jump Eight’ initiative, we’ve already shared that we’re donating an eighth of the fees from all new retainer and project clients. Today, we’re excited to announce the two not-for-profit organisations we’ll be supporting from now until the end of 2025. The first is the Elmbridge Community Eco Hub in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, which provides a number of initiatives bringing the local community together in a safe environment, encouraging skills sharing, recycling, waste reduction, tool and equipment lending, refill shop, community fridge, nature friendly food production and more. As part of Jump’s impact moving forward, Kate will be volunteering at the Hub half a day every month. We’ll post updates about this on our socials, so keep your eyes peeled.

The second is the Ethos Foundation, who we featured in our August 2024 Impact Blog. Founded by Permaculture Educator and Influencer Morag Gamble, the Ethos Foundation provides free Permaculture Education Institute programs to refugees in East Africa, giving 100 percent of all donations received to people within these communities. This important initiative is creating a growing number of local permaculture educators teaching local programs in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

We’re looking forward to sharing stories about these two incredible organisations, their huge impact on the communities they work with and how those communities are creating an even bigger impact.
