In late summer 2025, Drake and his production team turned to Canada Canada and Groovy Gecko to livestream his Iceman Episode 2 and Episode 3 films powered by LiveU technology. Groovy Gecko coordinated with YouTube and partnered with production company Canada Canada to create a unique hybrid of narrative, performance and live audience engagement.
Episode 3, which livestreamed on 4th September, was set against a visually striking backdrop across 12 locations in Milan. Groovy Gecko used a mix of 40 LiveU multi-cam LU800 (primary) and LiveU compact (backup) units. They also used five return servers, 19 cameras and live drone feeds. Underground clubs and challenging locations were boosted using Peplink and Starlink units for LiveU, ensuring zero dropouts.

Patrick Hanlon, Online Video Solutions Specialist at Groovy Gecko:
“We coordinated live shots of Drake driving and performing, integrating creative storytelling with music, maintaining a cinematic short film style. The high quality feeds were shot with future use in mind, allowing parts of the live broadcast to be repurposed for official music videos.
“Our approach allowed Drake and the creative team to push the narrative boundaries of live performance while keeping fans engaged with an immersive, fully live experience. Zero dropouts across underground venues, moving vehicles, and a citywide live setup resulted in a remarkable technical achievement for a live broadcast of this scale.”
